The Therapeutic Potential of a Strategy to Prevent Acute Myeloid Leukemia Stem Cell Reprogramming in Older Patients

چکیده
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is the most common and incurable subtype. Despite extensive research into disease’s intricate molecular mechanisms, effective treatments or expanded diagnostic prognostic markers for AML have not yet been identified. The morphological, immunophenotypic, cytogenetic, biomolecular, clinical characteristics of patients are complex. Leukemia stem cells (LSCs) consist hematopoietic (HSCs) cancer transformed by a complex, finely-tuned interaction that causes complexity AML. Microenvironmental regulation LSCs dormancy therapeutic implications identifying targeting due to their significance in pathogenesis discussed this review. It essential perceive relationship between niche HSCs, which together cause progression Notably, methylation well-known epigenetic change significant AML, our data also reveal microRNAs unique factor LSCs. Multiple-targeted approaches reduce risk factors, such as administration natural compounds elimination local LSCs, may prevent potentially fatal relapses. Furthermore, survival analysis overlapping genes revealed specific targets had effects on prognosis patients. We predict multiple-targeted herbal products modification governed different mechanisms could Thus, these strategies can facilitate incorporation medicine advanced drug discovery development processes achievable with Network Pharmacology research.

Therapeutic outcomes of older patients with acute myeloid leukemia.
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the therapeutic outcomes of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in elderly patients. METHODS This study was conducted at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, Pakistan over 11 years from January 1997 to August 2008. This was a descriptive case series study. We investigated the impact of disease biology and various treatment protocols on the outcome in this population. RE...
متن کاملPreliminary Results of Allogenic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation of non-M3 Acute Myeloid Leukemia
Background: Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (allo-HSCT) is used as treatment of choice for patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). We aimed to evaluate the prognostic factors in 2-year overall survival of patients with non-M3 AML who underwent allogenic HSCT. Methods: This is a Cross sectional retrospective study. Demographic data and study of variables such as age...
متن کاملThe role of microRNA in acute/chronic, myeloid/lymphocytic leukemia
MicroRNAs are small, non-coding sequences that regulate gene expression by inducing degradation or translational inhibition of target mRNAs. These molecules control many intracellular physiological and pathological processes.Abnormal expression of these moleculs has been described in different cancers including hematopoietic cancers. According to the type of cancer and the stage, miRNA’s expres...
متن کاملGeographic Heterogeneity of the AML1-ETO Fusion Gene in Iranian Patients with Acute Myeloid Leukemia
Background: The human AML1 gene, located on chromosome 21, can be fused to the AML1- eight-twenty-one (ETO) oncoprotein on chromosome eight, resulting in a t(8;21)(q22;q22) translocation. Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) associated with this translocation is considered a distinct AML with a favorable prognosis. Due to the various incidences of the translocation, which is associated with geographic ...
متن کاملAcute myeloid leukemia in the older adults
AML is an aggressive hematological malignancy with highest incidence in the older adults. The adverse features of AML in the elderly, and the frailties and comorbidities frequently present in them, make their management a particularly difficult therapeutic challenge. In this context, it is important to assess carefully patient- as well as disease-associated prognostic features with validated to...
